Hi, I’m Kara Emily Krantz.

Photographer, playwright, director, and storyteller.

I've spent much of my life telling stories.

As an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and director, I've spent years exploring what makes people tick, what brings us together, and what makes a moment worth remembering.

Photography is another way I do the same.

Because the best photographs aren't just about what happened. They're about what it felt like to be there.

Whether I'm photographing a bustling conference, a theatrical performance, a wedding, or an intimate celebration, I'm looking for the humanity at the heart of it all.

The spontaneous laughter. The unexpected connection. The proud smile from across the room. The tiny, extraordinary moments that might otherwise slip away.

And yes, I'll capture the big moments, too. But I have a particular fondness for the ones happening just outside the spotlight.

People first. Always.

I'm not just another vendor with a camera.

I'll remember your name, laugh with you, put people at ease, and find the moments that make your event unmistakably yours.

I love people. I love their stories. And I genuinely love being part of the spaces where those stories unfold.

My background in theater and education has taught me how to read a room, anticipate the action, and make people feel comfortable being themselves.

Whether I'm navigating a crowded convention floor, photographing performers under theatrical lighting, or documenting a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, I bring that same curiosity, attentiveness, and care.

My goal isn't simply to give you beautiful photographs. It's to help you see the beauty, energy, and connection that were there all along.

A few of my favorite things:

  • My shih-tzu, Levi

  • Storytelling in all its forms, from intimate black box plays to quirky web series

  • New Orleans, New England, and the adventures in between

  • Long walks in the woods and cozy nights by the fire

  • Coffee shops (and all the lattes)

  • Whimsical playlists, poetry, and late-night writing sessions

  • Community, connection, and laughter that makes you feel alive

I'm based in Worcester, Massachusetts, with a growing presence in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I'm always happy to travel for a good story.

Let's make something wonderful together.
