Tell us about the love you share
It all started over a bonfire at a friend’s house. Katelyn had known the friends from church for a few years, and Josh was new to Worcester. Within the next week, Katelyn was going to embark on a three-week journey through Europe. Katelyn and Josh bonded over conversation of travel and good food.
Over the next few months, Katelyn & Josh started to spend more time together- at church services, in life groups, and serving in outreaches in the Worcester community.
Katelyn & Josh spent their first date in December 2017 making Katelyn's favorite cookie: Italian Butter Cookies. That night they learned that Josh is indeed the better cook, and Katelyn is best left to tasting and supervisory roles. Food and cooking have been one of the binding elements through their relationship. They love going out to try new foods and experimenting with new ingredients in the kitchen.
After months of serving in the food outreach with our church, Katelyn, Josh, and another friend joined up to take over the food outreach. Every month they love to see God's goodness and generosity by helping others serve and receive food in our community.
The Proposal
In September 2018, Josh commissioned an engagement ring. The jeweler created a truly unique ring that they never would have dreamed of finding.
On November 4, 2018, the ring was ready! It was a brisk, fall evening and Josh took Katelyn on a walk to the Shrewsbury Town Common. They went to a bench on which they have enjoyed many coffees and conversations. Josh asked Katelyn to marry him, and she said "Yes!".
What do you love most about your partner?
Katelyn:
He asks me to help him win his video games when there is a math question.
Josh:
Her willingness to indulge my weakness for kittens.
Tell us a little about yourselves.
Katelyn:
A high school mathematics teacher. She loves stories, whether it's through a movie, a book, a conversation, a television show, or any form of media.
Josh:
Works in a laboratory as a Histologist. He loves Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and other geeky genres.
We like to go to places with good food, Armsby Abbey, local breweries, book shops, tea shops, and movies.
We enjoy playing board games and card games. We sometimes make up our own rules and see where the game takes us.
If you could pick one word that describes you as a couple, what would it be and why?
Katelyn:
Balanced. We keep each other level when the other one starts to seem unsteady.
Josh:
Unity. We are rarely in opposition to each other, more often we laugh at how like-minded we are on a daily basis.
